MONUMENT TO THE FLAGS

They are series of sculptures in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. The monument consists of 120 women in a total of 21 pillars, which opened in 1948 on the occasion of the IX Panamerican Conference on April 30, 1948. This led to the creation of the Organization of American States. (OEA).








" LA MERCED " SCHOOL

This school is the oldest school in Bogotá.
In 1839 La Merced School began as the first official institution dedicated to the education of women.
It was 134 years in the Capuchin convent until it was transferred to Mosquera in 1974 by decision of the government of Cundinamarca.


















" LA SABANA " STATION

This building replaced the old station built in 1887 and it was used to open the railway from Bogotá to Facatativa. Actually is the superintendency of ports and transport.









NATIONAL PARK " OLAYA HERRERA "

It has a central passage adorned with lanterns and benches, that starts at the sidewalk of the seventh street and continues toward the east until you reach the clock tower. This clock tower was donated by the Swiss Community in 1954.














NATIONAL MUSEUM

Natural Museum is the oldest in the country and also one of the oldest in America. During two centuries has been dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of cultural values of the nation. It was and important Jail during 72 years.










BULLRING " LA SANTAMARIA "

A beautiful architectural place in which people enjoy bullfighting. This bullring is famous in Bogotá for all historic value.

THE PLANETARIUM

There is a large dome and it has a projection system that reproduces by electric means, optical and electromechanical celestial phenomenas.
This dome is 25 meters in diameter. It's one of the largest in Latin America.












COLPATRIA TOWER





It's the highest building in Colombia. From here we can see all the city and this is beautiful spectacle.

FUNICULAR STATION

It has a colonial style, there people take the funicular, the mechanic vehicle to Monserrate hill.

CULTURAL CENTER "LA MEDIA TORTA".





It's the place for music festivals and dance.

Here many national and international artists arrive.

It's smaller than the coliseum but the performances are free for all kind of people.

SAN AGUSTIN CHURCH

It's famous for its artistic and religious heritage; it's one of the oldest churchs (1637) and it was recently restored.
It's recognized by the choir, the Virgin of Altagracia, the baroque altars and architectural proportions.

NARIÑO'S HOUSE


There is the residence of our president and it's the official place of the goverment. Here, there are interesting pieces of art and furniture of different periods of our history.

THE PRIMATE CATHEDRAL


This is a neoclasiccal building as the Town Hall and it's in front of it. It was declared a national monument for its historical significance.

THE JUSTICE PALACE


It is on the north side of Bolivar Square.
It was the first courthouse built in 1921 and destroyed by fine during a small revolution called the bogotazo in April 1948.

NATIONAL CAPITOL


This is the supreme legislative power of the Colombian Republic. It is on the south side of the Bolivar Square.

This is one of the most great architectonic value building.

LIEVANO'S PALACE





This building is on the west side of the Bolivar Square.
It has tree floors; but the first floor is a crosswalk.
It's the one of the oldest buildings in Bogotá city.











RENAISSANCE PARK


It's a quite place where people enjoy musical and cultural activities. One of the most popular things here is the sculpture: "Man on Horseback" by Fernando Botero who donated it to Bogotá.









METROPOLITAN PARK "SIMON BOLIVAR"







This is a historic park since 1968, there is a big lake where people can ride a boat and practice water sports. There is also the most beautiful landscape with big green areas to walk, to run and to share with the family.

CHILDREN'S MUSEUM


There are some buildings with 25 different areas of knowledge and art. Children like to visit this interesting place because they learn about them; also there is a big airplane where they can play inside, so they enjoy and their families too.

BOTANICAL GARDEN "JOSE CELESTINO MUTIS"


There is an enormous diversity of plants; this place is visited for foreign people because of the variety in the vegetation according with our different climates.

This is a very prominent place for scientists.

MAGIC SALITRE PARK


It's the largest amusement park in the city and it was opened in 2000 year. There are different attractions for children and families.
There is also a castle of terror and a big roller coaster. This park is bigger than Mundo Aventura Park.

NATIONAL PRINTING OF COLOMBIA

In this place there is an important graphic arts museum founded by Tarcisio Higuera.
The National Printing offers state entities modern process for the publishing industry.


SHOPPING CENTER "GRAN ESTACION"

It's located on 26th. street with 68th. Avenue. It has three floors where we can find different kinds of stores as clothes, shoes, banks, restaurants and a children's area.
There are some cinemas, an interesting casino and an ice rink too.

"EL DORADO" AIRPORT


It's the only airport in the city. It has the second largest aerial runway in the world.
Also it has a lot of national and international flights. It's very comfortable but it has few shops zone.
On the first floor, there are a lot of cafeterias, restaurants and souvenir shops. There are also important banks as the Popular bank.

PUBLIC LIBRARY " EL TINTAL"





It´s one of the four largest libraries in Bogotá city.

It´s located on Cali Avenue near to popular neighborhoods, wetlands and it´s visited by old people and children.
